Pit Pick-Up – Used for picking up water out of a pit or other container, the Pit Pick-Up shall be designed of a non-corrosive poly material and shall be located in a pit, tank or sump where liquid is collected.  The poly material shall be perforated to act as a straining device to prevent debris from being sucked into the filtration unit.  It shall also be provided with a float mechanism which will automatically add fresh water, if the water level in the pit, tank or sump runs critically low.

Floating Fluid Pick-Up – Used for drawing off the surface layer of liquid in tanks, pits and sumps, the Floating Pick-Up shall be designed of non-corrosive material and shall be designed so that it floats on the surface of a liquid and can slowly draw off the surface layer to remove oils and other lighter liquids.

Adjustable Magnetic Pick-Up – Used for mounting to the wall of a steel tank, the Adjustable Magnetic Pick-Up shall be designed so that it can readily be positioned so that it can either draw off the top surface layer from the liquid or be positioned to draw liquid from a point under the surface of the liquid.

IV. Operating Principals: The LITTLE SUCKER Filtration Unit

a.   The LITTLE SUCKER Filtration Units shall operate at a rate of up to 4 GPM on Model LSR-4 from an air supply of a minimum of 7 CFM @ 70 PSI or at a rate of up to 8 GPM on Model LSR-8 from an air supply of a minimum of 14 CFM @ 70 PSI which shall be provided by a local air compressor or from another air source.  The air source shall be provided from a dedicated air compressor mounted on the trailer.

Statement of Water Quality

Water Quality Statement :  The discharge quality of The LITTLE SUCKER water recovery system will have a direct relationship to the water quality of the wash water effluent and proper maintenance performed.   Heavy emulsifying detergents, chemicals and lack of proper maintenance can cause the water quality to vary such that it may not meet acceptable levels in a given application of for discharge to sewer.

Under normal operation, with proper maintenance, water quality cannot be guaranteed, but the system will:

  • Reduce free oils and greases to below 15 PPM

  • Drop C.O.D.’s and B.O.D.’s typically over 75% to acceptable sewer discharge levels.  The ozonation option can greatly improve The LITTLE SUCKER’s performance in this area.

  • Reduce suspended solids below 10 microns

  • Remove a high percentage of heavy metals.  The ozonation option can greatly improve The LITTLE SUCKER’s performance in this area.

  • Reduce typical odors caused by bacteria, sulfides and organics.  The ozonation option can greatly improve The LITTLE SUCKER’s performance in this area.

Intention of Filtration System Design:  The LITTLE SUCKER was designed to be a water recovery system to be used to recover the effluent from typical washing and a host of other applications and clean it up for reuse as gray water.

Cleaning Technologies Incorporated into The LITTLE SUCKER are:

  • Settling

  • Coalescing

  • Diffused Air Filtration

  • Aeration

  • Ozonation (Optional)

  • Recirculation

  • Adsorption

  • Absorption

  • Skimming

  • Pre-Screening

  • Multi-Cell Filtration

  • Weir Separation

  • Floatation

  • Chemical or Microbe Injection (if required)

Additional filters, which can be incorporated into these systems can be designed to eliminate or reduce the following:   Algae, Aluminum, Arsenic,  Bacteria,  Benzene,  Bicarbonate,  BOD,  Cadmium, Carbon Tetrachloride, Chloride, Chlorobenzene, Chloroethane, Chloroform, COD, Copper, Dichlorobenzene, Dichlorethylene, Dichloropropene, Dinitro-Phenol, Dinitro-Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Flourine, FOG (Fats, Oils, Grease), Gasoline, Hydrogen, Hydrogen Gas, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Methyl Chloride, Methyl Isobutyl Ketone, Naphthalene, Nitrobenzene, Nitrophenol,  Phenol,  Radon,  Suspended  Solids, Tetrahydofuran,  Tin, Toluene,  Trichlorobenzene, Trichiorethylene, Urea, Xylene

The LITTLE SUCKER water recovery systems are manufactured to provide the latest in filtering technologies available in the market today.  All water coming into the filtering system will be filtered and processed back to  "Wash Quality Water" standards and additional filtration can be added to remove or reduce those contaminants mentioned above.   Detergent and other chemicals may not be entirely removed and additional filtering may be required, if removal is desired.   Water, which is intended to be overflowed to sewer, can be cleaned to this quality prior to discharge to sewer.   Due to the varied nature of effluent water encountered and pumped into the systems and because the assurance and quality of routine maintenance cannot be guaranteed, a guarantee of a specific water quality is difficult to provide.
